Where can I find the church?

Founded in 1752, Shawnee Presbyterian Church is the oldest Church in Monroe County, Pennsylvania and is located in the picturesque village of Shawnee, Pennsylvania in the Pocono Mountains.   The church is located off Shawnee Church Road off River Road.  Shawnee-on-Delaware or Shawnee is near the Pennsylvania/New Jersey state border and just northwest of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.

 

Directions may also be obtained to the village of Shawnee through either Internet map websites such as a Yahoo! Maps or MapQuest using a city-to-city option only.   Shawnee Church Road is NOT found in either Yahoo! Maps or MapQuest.com.  Directions may also be obtained through programs such as Microsoft Streets and Maps or MapPoint software.

From Points North:

*  Take Route 209 South from Milford area to Marshalls Creek.

*  Just past a shopping complex, follow the signs for Shawnee Mountain Ski Area then bear left on Hollow Rd.

*  Stay on this road for about 4 miles (you will pass the ski area) and Hollow Rd. will end in Shawnee Village.

*  Turn left at the Shawnee Playhouse.

*  Quickly turn left again up a steep hill at Shawnee Church Road.

*  The church is at the top of the hill on the left and is the first building on the left on Shawnee Church Road.

From Philadelphia and the South:

*  Take Route 276 (from the north side) or Route 476 (from the south side) to the
     PA Turnpike – Northeast Extension (Route 476 North), following signs for Allentown.

*  At Allentown, take Route 22 East about 15 miles to Route 33 North.

*  Take Route 33 towards Stroudsburg, PA about 25 miles.

*  Route 209 merges with Route 33 and splits again.

*  Stay on Route 209 North towards Stroudsburg, PA.

*  Route 209 will merge with Interstate 80 East – follow Interstate 80 East to Exit 309, Marshalls Creek.

*  Take 209 North about 1 mile and then make a right on Buttermilk Falls Rd. (opposite Luigi’s Pizzeria).

*  Go about ˝ mile then make a left at the “T” onto River Road.

*  As you approach Shawnee Village, the Shawnee General Store will be on your right.

*  Pass the Shawnee Playhouse on your right and turn on left up a steep hill on Shawnee Church Road.

*  The church is at the top of the hill on the left and is the first building on the left on Shawnee Church Road.

From New York City and Points East:

*  Follow Interstate 80 West through the Delaware Water Gap into Pennsylvania.

*  Take Exit 310 (the first exit after paying the $.75 toll) following the signs for “Visitor Information”. 
     After Stop light, go straight on River Rd. for 3 miles winding around (make a sharp right hand turn at stop sign).

*  As you come into Shawnee Village, the Shawnee General Store will be on your right.

*  Pass the Shawnee Playhouse on your right and turn on the left up a steep hill on Shawnee Church Road.

*  The church is at the top of the hill on the left and is the first building on the left on Shawnee Church Road.

From Points West:

*  Take Interstate 80 East to Exit 309.

*  Take 209 North about 1 mile and then make a right on Buttermilk Falls Rd. (opposite Luigi’s Pizzeria).
